My name is Aly Peterson. I decided to write this blog because I believe in building your own version of beautiful, whatever that may be. At the end of my junior year of high school I honestly believed that there was just one way to be beautiful; this beauty belief came mainly from what the media portrays as “beautiful”. I did everything that I could to become “beautiful” including taking some drastic measures in order to reach that goal. Those decisions began to hinder me physically, mentally, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, and socially. I took a deep plunge when becoming “beautiful” soon turned into something not so pretty. I made some choices that set me back in more ways than one.
I soon learned for myself that beauty is not a certain hair color, body shape, clothing brand, or number on the scale. Beauty is so much more. Beauty comes in many shapes, sizes, and colors. I believe that beauty is a personal thing. What makes one feel beautiful may make another feel awful. And what makes one feel awful may make another feel beautiful. And that’s perfectly okay!
I still have days where I don’t feel my best, I believe that everyone does. However, I’m dedicated to this theme of “Build Your Beautiful” because I know that every single person’s version of beautiful will be different. I know that beauty differs from person to person, from time period to time period, and from region to region. I’m working on building my beautiful in more ways than one– which may range from anything related to clothing, food, makeup, hair, religion, or just life in general. I’m excited to start sharing the experiences I have with the world. I hope you’re excited too!
