Who Cares?

It all begins and ends in your mind.  What you give power to has power over you, if you allow it.

What is something a lot of your thoughts revolve around?  Is it your hair, your makeup, your weight, or your clothing?  Is it the cleanliness of your house, the workload you bear, or the quality of your schoolwork?  Are you constantly trying to outshine someone, think of the perfect Instagram caption, or get a zillion things accomplished in one day?  Think about it for a minute.  What is something that is constantly on your mind?

Last week I hit my limit.  I am sick of worrying about everything!  I’m sick of excuses, sick of feeling the need to be perfect, and sick of being frustrated with myself when I don’t reach everything on my to-do list.  I’m sick of criticizing myself when I look in the mirror. I’m sick of waking up and feeling like I am not doing enough.

WOW, that may have been a little excessive!  I promise I’m not the negative Nancy / look at the downside / glass half empty type of gal all the time.  I like to think I’m typically very optimistic; I just wanted to get my point across.

As a whole we waste so much time thinking negatively of ourselves.  WHO CARES if you wear your hair naturally and it’s not curly or straight.  WHO CARES if you indulge in an extra handful of chocolate almonds every night for a week.  WHO CARES if the dishes are piled up, you have laundry on the floor, and the shelf has a little extra dust.  WHO CARES if you spend an entire day being lazy because you’re so worn out and exhausted from the week before.

I feel this is the perfect time to address this topic because we all have big goals for the new year.  Let me be the first (or one of the first) to tell you, I believe you can accomplish every single one of those goals!  It is possible; no dream is too big.  But don’t get down on yourself when there is a bump in the road.

I’m not saying to dream smaller or to stop pushing yourself.  What I am saying is give everything your best effort and then be proud of yourself!  Why does it matter so much if we excel at everything we do?  Of course it isn’t a bad thing if we excel at everything, but NOBODY is perfect.  NOBODY has the perfect house, body, hair, meal, attitude, tan, vacation, family, or spiritual habits 100% of the time.  Give yourself some room to breathe!  Seriously though.  How amazing is it that you have the ability to breathe, learn, and grow.

Allow yourself to let go of the negative thoughts and focus on positive thoughts.  Allow yourself room to grow and learn and try new things.  Allow yourself to be imperfect.  Allow yourself to be proud of who you are!  YOU DESERVE IT!!!

  1. I feel the same way! I think a lot of the worry/pressure comes from social media. You constantly get inundated with facebook, instagram, and pinterest pictures of perfect hair, makekup, homes, etc. The way I see it , no one is perfect. That neat and tidy living room probably has a closet full of junk that was thrown in it to clean it up haha.
