I was recently told by a health professional that I’m allergic to whey protein… WHAT!? I’ve been adding whey protein to my shakes and eating Quest nutrition bars (my favorite) for YEARS. I can no longer have cow milk, ice cream, whipped cream, and everything else with whey in it. Sad day.
Since I’ve had to stop eating whey protein bars, I’ve been on the hunt for a healthy and low-sugar alternative. I’ve searched every grocery store near me and I really haven’t found an option I love. That’s when I decided I’ll just have to make my own!
I’ve teamed up with Naturally More to create an energy bite recipe you will love!
I’ve been addicted to Naturally More ever since I first tried their products. Not only do their nut butters taste amazing, but this specific brand has added probiotics and flaxseed to their products to make them even more essential to your well-being. Their nut butters are also gluten free, dairy free, vegan, kosher, include no trans-fat or cholesterol, and they are ALL NATURAL.
I created a recipe for chocolate peanut-butter energy bites. These bites are simple, delicious, and only 66 calories per bite! Let me know what you think.
Ingredients (makes 12 energy bites):
1 cup old fashioned oats
3 tablespoons Naturally More Almond Butter
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon chia seeds
2 tablespoons honey or agave (you can add more if you want a sweeter taste)
Directions:
Stir all the ingredients together in a medium bowl until well incorporated. Once mixed, roll into balls. Place the balls on a cookie sheet and allow to chill in a refrigerator for approximately 30 minutes. Enjoy!
Store the energy bites in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. For best results, make sure you enjoy them within one week!
