Hawaii

Last week Jace and I had the opportunity to travel to the beautiful Hawaii!  We had such a great time and loved having a chance to relax– we don’t get that very often.  It was my first time to Hawaii and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

For most of the week we just hung out on the beach.  We also did a few of the musts on Oahu– I’ll explain later in this post!

The Polynesian Cultural Center was so much fun!  It was interesting to see how different each Polynesian culture is.  Our favorite part was the Ha: Breath of Life show at the end of the day.  AH-MAZING.  I also loved trying fresh coconut for the first time ever.  YUM!

The LDS temple in Laie was absolutely gorgeous!  The surrounding gardens are full of color and tropical goodness.  In my opinion, this was one of the most beautiful places in all of Oahu!

Pearl Harbor was shocking.  I’m so glad we went because it was an experience that I’ll hold forever in my heart.  Seeing the sunken ships in person really opened my eyes to just how tragic this historical event was.  I’m not going to lie, I shed a few tears there!

We stayed in an Airbnb on Oahu’s north shore.  Jace and I love being away from all the chaos of “tourist” places, so the location was perfect for us.  On the beach just outside our house I think we saw a total of 20 people (if that) during the entire week we were there!

Who doesn’t love a good açaí bowl?!  I’m sure you can get/make the same açaí bowl here in Utah… but I have to say, eating that açaí bowl in Hawaii with the ocean in the background was unbeatable.

The luau was a blast!  We didn’t originally plan on going, but once we got to Hawaii we decided we should go.  Everyone says the pork is amazing at a luau but I didn’t believe it until I actually tasted it.  I’m not a big meat-eater and I went back for seconds.  It was THAT good.

All around Oahu the water is crystal clear.  My favorite beach we went to was Hanauma Bay because the water was SO blue.  It was breathtaking!  Snorkeling wasn’t great the day we went but we heard it’s normally the best at Hanauma Bay.

Hawaii was one for the books!  We will definitely be back.
