Love Story

Everyone has a love story, but ours is my favorite.  Here’s why:

I stress, I am emotional, and I cannot stop moving (even to talk sometimes) until I have accomplished everything on my to-do list.  I freeze him out when I put my toes on him after getting in bed, I drag him to the new health food restaurants in town, and I make him watch Gilmore Girls with me.

He leaves his dirty laundry on the floor, he would eat quesadillas (almost) every day if he could, and he takes an hour to get out of bed in the morning.  He snores when he sleeps, asks me where he leaves his things, and suddenly has something that NEEDS to get done the second we need to go to the grocery store.

We are two people who have different strengths and weaknesses.  We have different likes and dislikes.  At times we couldn’t be more different yet at other times we couldn’t be more alike.  Even with our differences, there isn’t a single day I don’t catch myself wondering how in the world I got so lucky with him.

He makes me laugh when I am mad, tells me I am beautiful when I am sad, and is there for me no matter what.  He is the man who helps me know that being just “Aly” is enough.  Even if I were flat-broke he would make me feel like a million bucks.  He loves me when I’m unlovable, helps me when I’m helpless, and makes me laugh when I am serious.

Love is two imperfect people refusing to give up on each other.  Love is those butterflies you get every time you see that special someone.  Love is making him waffles when you want pancakes and watching Silverado when you want Legally Blonde.

The biggest lesson I have learned after being married for a couple years is that love should be unconditional.  This includes loving my spouse no matter what, but also allowing myself to be loved no matter what.  The truth of the matter is that no love story is perfect.  We all have faults, but our strengths make it all worth it.

“I choose you, and I’ll choose you over and over and over.  Without pause, without a doubt, in a heartbeat.  I’ll keep choosing you.”
